GUCCI & UNICEF Partner Up.

I’ve just started to consider what I will buy for people this Christmas. I’m one of those last minute types of people anyway. In my work for UNICEF Canada, I’ve had the pleasure of marketing GUCCI’s partnership with UNICEF this holiday season.

GUCCI has designed a series of products, available at all Canadian locations, of which 25% of the proceeds will go to help less fortunate children around the world. They’re also championing the book, Snowman in Africa by Michael Roberts. The illustrations in the book are great, and I love the irony of the plot. 100% of the book’s profits will go directly to UNICEF and aid them in doing their work.

If you’re someone who wants to find the perfect gift and do something great for those less fortunate, you can take a look at some of UNICEF Canada’s other charitable gift ideas at www.shopunicef.ca. There are a whole range of ethically, environmentally and socially conscious gifts available.

I splurged and bought some new threads to kick off fall:

I needed this trench coat.

I needed this carry bag for work. My backpack was looking nast.

And then I bought 2 huge wool sweaters and a blue, long-sleeve shirt.

My latest hot store column for Livedress.com was just published. It’s on the British fashion label, Fred Perry.

I really need to archive all these pieces online, in one place.

My upcoming article for Livedress.com will be on the iconic British label, Fred Perry. I had a chance to visit the store and really get to know the brand. I think I’ve fallen in love with them. The cuts, the colours and the different ensembles are amazing. I never liked Lacoste and can see why, Fred Perry trumps all. I wish I could buy the entire store!

TalentEgg.ca & Livedress.com; New Articles and an Update.

My second article, Recruiting 2.0: Social communities for resume building has been published over at TalentEgg.ca. This one is full of tips, and is pretty guidance counsellor heavy. Enjoy.

My first article with Livedress.com went live today. I did a profile on Queen St. jewellery boutique, EKO.

What’s also awesome this week is some news about the blog I started with Elena, Cheap ThrillCampus Intercept has agreed to publish an article nationally, once a month based around the idea of cheap thrills. They run a nationwide publication called Campus Life Magazine and it gets some pretty huge circulation. Although they’ve recently gone completely online, it’s still good news! First article should be up early May. I’ll also be doing a local Toronto article once a month. Thanks to Michelle for the tip off. We’re also going to be pitching a collaborative effort for the publication.

American Apparel 2: Nylon Taffeta Swim Trunks with Lining & Baby Rib Men’s Brief (3-Pack).
Wash your hair you stinking hippie!

Wash your hair you stinking hippie!

Yeah, I’m just going to say that with this week being hectic already, I opted to buy the remainder of whatever clothing I needed online. If you’re my friend on Facebook, then you already know from my status that I purchased underwear online last night. I’ll tell you why:

1. American Apparel had a deal again. It was $36 for a pack of three, “slashed” from $41.

2. I needed a new pair of swim shorts; the ones I purchased for my Halloween costume are white, and poses the problem of being see through when I come out of the water. Nobody wants to see, as one review on the site put it,  my “triangle of no”. Maybe they do?

The shorts were $36 also, and if you remember my costume from halloween (or just look at the picture above), you’ll know what shorts I’m talking about. Again, the shipping was free.

You can’t go wrong with slashed prices and free shipping. Trends and hipster backlash aside, it’s good quality material and I like the colours. I could care less if it was made on this continent.

American Apparel: Fine Jersey Short Sleeve V-Neck (3-Pack).

As the lead up to Cuba begins, I’ve had to do some thrifty shopping in order to update my summer wardrobe. It’s weird that I’ll be wearing shorts and t-shirts for a week, especially at a time when I’m stocked up on long johns and wool socks.

I’m not THAT cheap, but I like a bargain when I can get one. I also don’t really shop at American Apparel. In fact, I’ve probably only bought something from there twice.

Last week I was browsing their online store and found this: a 3-pack of short sleeve v-necks for $51, with free shipping. I figured I might as well. It was the whole $66 marked down to $51 that got me. Okay, and the free shipping. I’ve been telling everyone I know about the deal, at least everyone that I think would wear v-necks.
