England has Paul Young. Australia’s equivalent is Daryl Braithwaite. I don’t know why, but his stuff has been in rotation for the past week. He’s got this smooth adult contemporary pop voice, and it’s a huge departure from his days as lead singer of semi-successful 70s band, Sherbert.
He’s a man of mediocre successes, but has some great tunes. Really powerful voice, can’t stress that enough.
I like doing these mini profiles on Australian pop acts. Maybe I’ll do more.

You thought reading it was epic? Watching footage from the movie and listening to someone recite it is even better! I love this movie too.

This is an awesome video set to an awesome song using tilt-shift photography by Kevin Loutit. It’s all real. It reminds me of when I was young and use to watch Thomas the Tank Engine all the time. I love trains! This has nothing to do with trains, though.
The song is called “Clementine” and is performed by Megan Washington.

Photo of me with the wine.
The Little Penguin is a wine from South Eastern Australia. This is hands down my favourite wine to drink ever. I don’t really know anything about wines; this one just tastes great. I love the logo too–you can’t go wrong with penguins. Oh, and it’s Australian, so double bonus there.
